June 16-20, 2008 is National YMCA Arts Week. The Minot Family YMCA and MACA have planned special activities that highlight the connections between sport/fitness and arts. Both kinds of activites are fun and good for you! All activities take place each day from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Minot YMCA and are free, open to the public, and for participants of any age. A variety of offerings are scheduled.

Teacher Evaluation

Since the 1970s, the Minot Area Council of the Arts has brought special arts experiences to thousands of area children. Local artists go into classrooms to assist children in experiencing firsthand a variety of artistic disciplines. Classroom teachers choose from almost 100 projects that include clay, dance, printmaking, Ukrainian eggs and other traditional arts, watercolor, poetry, drama, music, plus many others! This program is a favorite of teachers because the sessions offered are designed to integrate with the curriculum.

Parents have been so excited about the program they have purchased “Arts in the Schools” gift certificates as gifts for their children’s teachers. (Now that’s a gift a teacher can really use!)

This valuable program is, to our knowledge, the only one of its type across the state and is growing to include more sessions, artists, and partnerships that enable us to serve the elderly and persons with disabilities.

The Arts in the Schools program works effectively through partnerships between the Minot Area Council of the Arts, the Minot Public Schools, individual school PTA groups, the YMCA, the North Dakota Council on the Arts and individual artists.

"Art Night Out" is our new adult class series that combines small class instruction, an inspiring setting, coffee, and dessert to create an atmosphere that is relaxing and creative. To view a schedule of Art Night Out classes, see Upcoming Events in the right hand menu.

To schedule an AIS session, select a presenter or an activity from the AIS Class Roster. Then use the form listed at the right to place your request. After the session is complete, please take a few minutes to fill out the Teacher Evaluation form. To contact the AIS staff email AIS@minotarts.org.
